Mercer Drama Club will be presenting, "High School Musical," on Friday, 4/25, at 7:00 pm and on Saturday, 4/26, at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets for the production of High School Musical (with the special guests, the Improvinators) will be on sale in the cafeteria Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, during all lunches. They pre-sale price is $3/ticket. Prices go up to $5/ticket at the door. Tickets are general admission and limited, so don't miss out!

Here at Kravitz Orthodontics we are SO excited to see the school buses on the road and teachers smiling in their new classrooms. We especially love to hear our patients tell us how much they love their new friends and what color rubber bands they chose over the summer for their braces. Word on the street is braces are COOL!
Today our team headed out to help volunteer at the open house for Pinebrook Elementary School. You will see our team in our spiffy blue shirts at all of the PTA events that we are sponsoring throughout the year. Come by and say hi!

When you think of the word brave, a few things may come to mind. You visualize a person who has courage, strength and determination. When we think of Gavin Rupp, the word brave just doesn't seem to be enough. We were saddened by the news of 13 year old Gavin's diagnosis of terminal brain cancer. Loudoun South Eagles are extremely lucky to have such a fantastic player on their team, #15!!
Glory Days in Stone Ridge hosted a fundraiser on Tuesday, July 16th for Gavin. 10% of all proceeds were donated to the Rupp family. We are happy to announce that our team here at Kravitz Orthodontics raised over $200 that night.
We had such a great time seeing all of our patients and their families and listening to the bands that volunteered their time to support Gavin. Shout out to our patient Hunter Blasberg for doing a fantastic job performing with his band, the "First Class Losers" as well as his dad's band, "Swiftkick". They were amazing!!
Loudoun 8U South Eagles brought a huge smile to Dr. K's face today when Coach Vince brought in this signed baseball from the entire team! Thank you so much for allowing us to be part of the 8U family! GO EAGLES!!!
Dr. Kravitz is jokingly referred to as the mayor of South Riding because of his large participation in the community. To celebrate the end of the school year, we teamed up with South Riding Proprietary and threw not one, not two, but THREE pool parties! Pizza, music, sunglasses and lots of fun were provided! South Riding really knows how to party! Shout out to our patients who showed us how to do Gangham Style-you rock!
Team KO had a BLAST at Arcola Elementary School's field day! Ariana and Angela set up the spoon relay and Brittne ran the Foursquare games. A great big thank you to Dr. Clark Bowers, Coach Bango and Arcola's PTA for organizing such a great event! Even on a 90 degree day, the smiles were wide on the students faces-we are so proud to be part of the Dragon family!
Team KO attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of South Riding's new splash pool! This fun pool area is designed for younger kids with a pirate ship, water slide, water toys and of course, lounging areas for mom and dad. I don't know about you but I'm looking forward to cooling off by the pool on a hot summer day! Thank you to the South Riding Town Hall Association for inviting us to the event. Despite the weather, we had a blast!

Wow, it's hard to believe that the 2012-2013 school year is almost at an end. It's even harder to believe that the 5th graders are going to be in the middle schools!! We love that the PTA's from Little River, Buffalo Trail, Liberty, Pinebrook, Aldie, Hutchison Farm, and Arcola have organized 5th grade promotion celebrations for these amazing students as they prepare to move on up to the middle schools. Dear Friends,
As we go through our day, we sometimes forget just how fortunate we really are to have a healthy, beautiful smile (complements of Dr. Kravitz, of course!) and fresh water to brush our teeth with. A few weeks ago, I received a phone call from Freedom High School's assistant principal, Mr. Fred LeMaster. He was thrilled to tell me about his upcoming mission trip to Haiti in which several students from Freedom High School helped to build a school and a feeding center while lifting the spirits of the children and families. Immediately I asked, "what can we do to help?". We all know how generous Dr. Kravitz is in the community, especially in our schools, but I believe it really takes a special person to be a humanitarian and not just a signature. We sent Mr. LeMaster and his students on their trip supplied with toothbrushes and toothpaste to deliver to the children of Port-Au-Prince.
They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. To us here at Kravitz Orthodontics, this picture is worth so much more than that. This is a reminder that in one little corner of the Earth, we filled the hearts of hundreds of children and made their smiles glow.
Mr. LeMaster-thank you for thinking of us, we will always be here to help. We are so proud of you for all that you have accomplished.

I could not think of a more creative idea, and we LOVE the shirts they made! The slips of colorful paper signed by pledgers will be made into a link chain that represents the unity of our community. Pinebrook Elementary School PTA in Aldie, VA is hosting an international night for students and families. Team Kravitz will be there to support the Pumas! Students and teachers will be doing cultural performances to showcase their ancestry customs and traditions. Families will also be doing food tastings from all around the world. Arcola Elementary School is raising money for their brand new track! Team Kravitz is a proud sponsor of this event and looks forward to seeing the track when it's finished! The walk-a-thon will take place on Thursday, March 21st during recess. Students will walk 2-4 laps together, with their teachers. Anyone can participate in the event! The book club is split into three groups: kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade, as well as fourth and fifth grades. The groups will read one book each month including some of our favorite titles: The Stinky Cheese Man by Jon Scieszka and Hoot by Carl Hiaasen. Dr. Kravitz has provided all materials and books for this wonderful group of staff and students. During the winter months, it's always a challenge to get the right amount of exercise. Our friend Kelly, who runs Kelly's Bootcamp in Chantilly, challenged Team Kravitz to an 8 week program competing against other teams in the bootcamp. We accept the challenge and look forward to taking over her bootcamp class each week!

On January 22nd, Mr. John Halligan will visit Lunsford Middle School to share the emotional and moving story about his son, Ryan, who took his own life due to relentless bullying several years ago. Mr. Halligan travels all over the country talking to middle and high school students in the hopes of helping them to understand the terrible impact that bullying can have on their fellow classmates. In addition to speaking with students, Mr. Halligan will be returning the evening of the 22nd at 7:00pm in the JML auditorium to do a presentation for parents. Families in our community have voiced great concerns with the effects of bullying and are grateful to the PTA and staff at Lunsford for this incredible presentation...and so are we. We are extremely proud of a patient of ours, who has created a video for her Girl Scout project, in the form of an anti-bullying campaign. Please help her out and vote for her video, entitled "The Cliques", here. The winner will have their video professionally produced-we believe that she truly deserves to win!
Our team here at Kravitz Orthodontics really takes pride in being such a large part of the community. We enjoy going to sporting events, PTA events, school plays, concerts, farmers markets, you name it! Mercer Middle School does a great job with providing fun after school activities for their students (we love seeing Principal Duellman at the events!), including yearbook club in which students are the photographers and editors of the school yearbook! Dr. Kravitz recently donated two new cameras to the school for the yearbook club and school staff to use. We can't wait to see the pictures from this school year!
Buffalo Trail Elementary PTA hosted a fun international night for parents and students last week, showcasing lots of cultures from all over the world. We really enjoyed seeing teachers participate, dressing up in garments from the countries that their ancestors came from. Musical instruments such as drums were set up in the gymnasium for children to improvise and create sounds that were unfamiliar to them. What a great learning experience!
